BMW Erholungsmodus: False Breaks and How to Avoid Them

But what BMW doesn't explain well is when exactly this mode activates. It’s not always obvious, which is the biggest problem. You could be cruising along, thinking everything's fine, and suddenly you lose power when you need it most – like when you're trying to overtake on a busy road. Talk about a false sense of security!
I almost got into a serious accident because of this. Another time, I was merging onto the highway and the car just died on me, almost causing a pile-up. That was the last straw. I had to figure this out.
Identifying and Avoiding False Breaks in Erholungsmodus

My personal experience
I eventually learned to drive in a slightly more assertive way – not aggressive, mind you – just more decisive. Short, sharp bursts of acceleration when needed. You know, less "Sunday drive" and more "confident driving". This helped minimize the frequency of the surprise power drops.
It's still frustrating, I won't lie. But at least I know to pay more attention and be prepared for this unexpected glitch.
