Man, oh man, where do I even begin? Losing €45,000 to a fake police officer? It still feels surreal, like a bad dream I can't quite shake. But it happened. To me. And I'm sharing my story so you don't become the next victim. This whole thing really messed me up – financially, emotionally, the whole shebang.

• Improve your online security: Use strong, unique passwords for all your online accounts, and enable two-factor authentication where possible. You should also be very cautious about the websites you visit; some websites can contain malware.

Protecting Yourself from Fake Police Officers

The police will never ask you for your bank details or PIN over the phone. This is a cardinal rule. Remember that! And always, always verify any request, no matter how official it sounds. A simple phone call to your bank or the police station can save you thousands of Euros.
